An Ephemeral Memorial for People whom are Homeless in Fargo, ND & Moorhead, MN

Co-Artists Stevie Famulari, Kyle Slivnik, Michael VanBeek create a design which is inspired by shelter.

Shelter is a basic necessity.  This public design serves not only as a memorial, but also as a physical shelter from the wind for the people who attend candle lit vigil on Tuesday, 21 December 2010.  People are welcome to stand in Shelter with Light in small groups, or by themselves, for moments of remembrance for the forty people whom have passed away in 2010 from occurrences related to homelessness.

Shelter with Light and the candle lit vigil will serve for the memory and awareness for this national day of remembrance.

Shelter with Light uses over 700 cubic feet of snow, and took over one hundred hours of combined work to design & build, by artists Stevie Famulari, Kyle Slivnik & Michael VanBeek. Sponsored in part by the FM Coalition for Homeless Persons.…
